Terms of use

By using this website you agree to these terms. They are governed by the law of England and Wales.

Walk notes are general guidance

Our walk descriptions, distances and timings are written to help you plan, not to replace a map or your own judgement. Paths are diverted, fields are ploughed, stiles are replaced by gates and weather changes the ground. Always carry the current Ordnance Survey map, follow the waymarks and the Countryside Code, keep to public rights of way and respect private land, livestock and crops. You walk at your own risk.

Old buildings and churchyards

Where we describe churches and other historic buildings, we write as visitors interested in their history. We do not speak for the parishes or the owners of any building. Buildings may be locked or closed; please respect services, private events and the wishes of the people who look after them.

Accuracy

We check our facts against published sources such as the Victoria County History and Historic England's list entries, and we correct mistakes when readers point them out. Even so, we cannot promise that every detail is complete or up to date.

Content

The words, photographs and illustrations on this site belong to the notebook unless stated otherwise. You may quote short passages with a link back. Please do not copy whole pages or reuse our images without asking.

Links and shops

We link to other websites, including shops. We are not responsible for their content, prices or availability. Some links are affiliate links: if you buy through them we may earn a commission. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. This never changes the price you pay.
