Cookies we set

Ordinary readers get no cookies from this site. We do not use analytics, advertising or social media cookies.

The only cookie we set is a sign-in cookie for the people who edit the notebook. It is created when an editor signs in, is needed for the editing screens to work, and expires after a day.

Cookies set by others

Spam checks. When the contact form or the editors' sign-in shows a Cloudflare Turnstile check, Cloudflare may use small amounts of browser storage to complete it. This is strictly necessary for the form to work and is covered by Cloudflare's own policies.

Shops. Some of our pages link to products on Amazon. If you click one of those links, Amazon sets its own cookies on its own site so that a purchase can be credited to this notebook. Those cookies are under Amazon's control and its cookie notice. The same applies to any other shop we link to through an affiliate network, such as a sponsored Booking.com or Books-A-Million link through CJ Affiliate: CJ and the shop set their own cookies when you follow it.

Managing cookies

You can block or delete cookies in your browser's settings. Blocking them will not stop you reading anything here; it may only mean a shop does not know you came from us. See our privacy page for how we handle other information.
